Byword MCP server for SEO content workflows

Byword MCP is a remote Model Context Protocol server that connects supported AI clients to Byword's SEO research, article generation, optimization, CMS publishing, and indexing tools. It is for content teams that want to work from one assistant without copying briefs, drafts, settings, and publishing details between tools.

What you can do

  • Read site, search, analytics, crawl, keyword, competitor, and content performance data.
  • Plan topical maps, page improvements, article briefs, and programmatic SEO campaigns.
  • Preview credit costs, then create articles or campaigns when your plan and balance allow it.
  • Update article assets, apply supported page metadata edits, publish to a connected CMS, and submit URLs for indexing.

Supported setup paths

The hosted server uses Streamable HTTP at https://api.byword.ai/mcp. Documented setup paths cover Claude and Claude Code, Cursor, Codex CLI and IDE, and eligible ChatGPT workspaces. Other clients need compatible remote Streamable HTTP and OAuth support.

  1. Add the Byword remote MCP URL in your client.
  2. Sign in to Byword with OAuth and select the access scopes you need.
  3. Choose a Byword site and run ping to confirm the account, plan, scopes, and rate-limit state.
  4. Connect any CMS, Search Console, analytics, or other data source required by the workflow.

Credits, publishing, and review controls

Read tools do not publish, deploy, index, or change customer-facing content. Generation uses the relevant plan credits or allowance. Publishing, indexing, and supported live page edits have real side effects. Byword sites are autonomous by default. Turn on MCP review for a site to require Byword approval gates before spend and ship actions. Remote CMS publishes default to draft.
